Bowsette's existence is known to Nintendo and they have nothing to say about her

Perhaps there's still hope for Boosette? Probably not...

Bowsette is an interesting and... strange phenomenon sweeping the internet right now. If you somehow haven't seen or heard of her, basically this fan-made character is a cross between Super Mario Bros. series villain Bowser and Princess Peach.

It all started when Nintendo announced New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe for Nintendo Switch during the last Nintendo Direct presentation. The port is set to feature Toadette as a playable character, who has a special crown power-up that transforms her into a princess that looks similar to Princess Peach called "Peachette."

This gave the internet the wild idea of coming up with designs for what Bowser might look like if he were to apply that same crown power-up. Hence, Bowsette was born.

Fan art, cosplay, and demand for Bowsette to be added as a playable character to everything quickly swept across social media, leaving a sea of Bowsette-themed posts to peruse. This phenomenon even inspired other "-ette" creations featuring other prominent Super Mario characters, the most prominent of which likely being "Boosette" — the cross between Peach and Boo.

With Bowsette spreading so rapidly across the internet, one can only wonder if Nintendo has caught wind of her yet. Apparently, they have.

Japanese news site J-Cast spoke to a Nintendo representative who noted that Nintendo is aware of Bowsette's existence, but... didn't have much to say about her. "Concerning the drawings and other things uploaded to the internet, we have no comment," said the Nintendo representative to J-Cast (via translation by NintendoLife).

So, it seems like Nintendo is none too impressed by Bowsette. Admittedly, some of the fan art and designs are actually great, though the internet has a tendency of taking things a bit too far.

Anyway, let's pour one out for Bowsette as she's likely not going to be featured in any official Nintendo games anytime soon. If this saddens you, feel free to check out some more artwork of Bowsette and some of Boosette below.
