Tokyo Game Show has finally wrapped up in Japan, but it gave us tons of new looks and more information about Soul Calibur 6 including some hints at possible characters not found in the base roster.

Those that played the final build of Soul Calibur 6 at TGS reported that the base roster would be 20 characters meaning that Raphael was the final fighter to be announced aside from DLC which appears to not exactly be the case now.

Some players that beat or advanced past a certain point in the game's Soul Chronicle story received the notification that they "acquired the character: 'Inferno'" pointing to the antagonist appearing as an unlockable fighter in Soul Calibur 6, and now reported images of the boss have also surfaced.

Inferno has appeared in nearly every Soul Calibur game to date including the original Soul Edge / Soul Blade game where he exists as the soul within the evil sword and the controlling force behind Nightmare. He has not been playable in every game and has changed play styles multiple times as the series has progressed.

Players that have reported to have seen Inferno claim that he works as a "mimic character" in Soul Calibur 6 meaning he takes on the move set of another random character in the game at the start of every match or every round like Edge Master in other entries in the series.

An open beta is scheduled to begin this weekend for SC6 though it's focused around testing the game's matchmaking, so don't get your hopes up about seeing Inferno or Hwang in action this week. You can check out Inferno's unlock message and reported images from gameplay below though be warned there are potential story spoilers for Soul Chronicle.
