Story Mode, final base roster and is that Hwang? - Tons of new footage and information for Soul Calibur 6 is coming out of Tokyo Game Show 2018
Tokyo Game Show 2018 is now in full swing in Japan, and it looks like Bandai Namco is going hard in showing off what their upcoming games have to offer to players.
Players and the press from all over the world have apparently been given access to try out the final build of Soul Calibur 6 and post images and videos of the game which is giving us our first good look at the game's story modes and finer details.
Hayate EIN posted a video earlier today showcasing a general overview of the the game plus its Soul Chronicle and Libra of Soul story modes plus some matches showing off newcomer Azwel. Gamespot has posted the first eight minutes of the Libra of Soul story, and Kayane uploaded 15 minutes of Geralt from The Witcher series' character story.
Soul Calibur 6's Soul Chronicle Story Mode is apparently split up into multiple parts between the main story that begins after the events of the original Soul Blade and the individual character stories. The main story follows the events of the first Soul Calibur games and reportedly focuses on Kilik, Xiangua and Maxi as the main characters on a mission to destroy Soul Edge.
The game reportedly will have a base roster of 20 characters which means that Raphael is likely the final reveal for the base game though there's still the possibility of unlocking some — including Inferno. Custom characters will be fought during both story modes as generic thugs, thieves and ruffians though other characters that currently do not appear to be playable also show up in story battles including a unique Lizardman.
Wonkey also recently shared an image from Soul Calibur 6's story which features Hwang, a classic character who hasn't appeared playable since Soul Calibur 3. This at the very least means that characters outside of the current playable roster will still be involved in the story mode if not made playable at some point. You can check out new images of Soul Calibur 6's modes in the gallery below and the videos after the jump.
