Update: The Nintendo Direct stream is now live. Come watch it with us below.

Nintendo was originally scheduled to hold their latest Direct stream a week ago, but the company ultimately decided to delay the event due to recent natural disasters in Japan.

The Nintendo Direct focused on showcasing games for the 3DS and Switch will now take place today at 3:00 p.m. PDT / 6 p.m. EDT and will likely run for about 35 minutes.

For new fighting game news, this Direct won't be focusing solely on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate though we're still expecting it to make an appearance with at least one or two new announcements based on multiple factors. Dragon Ball FighterZ on the Switch is also launching later this month, so we may also see some more for that title as well.

We could very likely see some newcomers or new Echo Fighters announced during the stream today or learn more about the mysterious mode that was censored out of the last direct which may be called "Spirits" and tie into Nintendo's recent trend of killing characters in Smash trailers.

Nintendo runs a daily Smash Bros. blog where they post screen shots, videos and music tracks in numbered posts, and they actually skipped some numbered updates following the delay of the Direct leading many to believe that new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate content is part of today's Nintendo Direct.

We'll also likely get a better look at the recently announced Pikachu and Eevee special edition version Switch during the stream as well. You can watch the Direct stream here with us once it begins after the jump.
