SNK will announce a new game on September 10th and there's a good chance it's a fighting game

'A new dawn rises...'

It's time for an announcement of an announcement. SNK will be revealing a new game on September 10, 2018.

On SNK's website, a mysterious timer is set to expire on that day. We can clearly see the number of days, hours, minutes, and seconds remaining until new information is revealed.

As a result of this, we can pinpoint the exact time when this mysterious reveal will happen. The reveal is scheduled to happen at 4:00 P.M. PST and 7:00 P.M. EST during the aforementioned day.

Above the clock, the words "a new dawn rises..." serves as our only real clue about this upcoming game. It is currently unknown if this is for a new intellectual property or if it's a continuation of one of SNK's established franchises.

Notably, King of Fighters 14 was released on August 23, 2016. Oswald, Heidern, Najd, and Blue Mary were the last DLC characters to be released on April 12, 2018. Still, there was a six year gap between the release dates for King of Fighters 13 and 14.

While SNK Heroines will be releasing on September 7, 2018, this is a fighting game that could probably be considered to be a spin-off. What are the odds of SNK announcing a new fighter just three days later?

Most of SNK's intellectual properties are actually fighting games. The possibility that this new game is another fighter seems fairly strong. Let's take a closer look at the properties that SNK has listed on their website under "game contents."

SNK's intellectual properties

King of Fighters series
Fatal Fury series
Samurai Showdown
• Metal Slug series
Art of Fighting series
• Beast Busters
The Last Blade series
Savage Reign series
World Heroes series
Buriki One
• Doki Doki Majo Shinpan series
• Days of Memories series

Eight out of twelve of SNK's listed intellectual properties are fighting game series. More than likely, this is going to be an announcement for another fighting game — whether that's something for one of the currently existing franchises or a new intellectual property altogether.
