Back in May 2018, we heard that Tekken 7 had accrued 2.8 million sales worldwide. What made this particularly impressive was the fact that the home version of the game had not even been out for a full year yet.

It seems as though the sales has yet to stagnate. Katsuhiro Harada, one of the directors for Tekken 7, has reported that the game has achieved over 3 million sales now.

Evidently, Bandai Namco's fighting game sales are on the rise. Dragon Ball FighterZ, a game in which Bandai Namco acted as a publisher for, was noted as being the fifth highest selling game of 2018 thus far back in May. At that point, it had a total of 2.5 million sales.

The Tekken series as a whole has now achieved over 47 million sales since its debut. The original Tekken game was released on December 9, 1994, so that's nearly 24 years of Tekken history.

Things are still looking strong for Tekken. This titles first two characters of Season 2, Anna and Lei, have already been released. Notably, the Walking Dead's Negan is also on the way.

In order to commemorate this occasion, the team has created a "celebration illustration." Harada takes the time to thank the fans for their support.
