Top-level Zangief player pulls off the greatest punish I've ever seen the character do in Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition

People have trouble blocking Urien's EX tackle, Zangitan catches it with Critical Art somehow...

In Street Fighter 5 there exist several moves that players refer to as "Just Do It" moves. These are attacks that can be thrown out virtually whenever, leave the player performing them safe (or very close to it), are difficult for the opponent to react to, and often have very little risk tied to them.

Among the "Just Do It" moves, you'll find Urien's EX Chariot Tackle. This special move travels horizontally across the screen very quickly, can be cancelled into his V-Trigger (Aegis Reflector) for a huge advantage, and leaves Urien safe when the attack is blocked.

EX Tackle has been a thorn in players' sides since Urien joined Street Fighter 5 as DLC back in Season 1, and the move remains strong and difficult to deal with today. That is, of course, unless you're Zangitan.

Known for his exceptional Zangief play across different Street Fighter titles, Zangitan recently uploaded a clip to Twitter showing a moment from one of his online bouts against a Urien player. in the footage, Zangitan pulls off what is easily the greatest punish I've ever seen done with Zangief in Street Fighter 5.

With V-Trigger 1 already active, the Urien player began fishing for an EX Tackle in order to connect with Zangief and bring out another Aegis Reflector to get more offense going. Zangitan was aware of this plan, so he sat across screen whiffing crouching light kick here and there and buffering the Critical Art during the animation so that he could scoop Urien up when the tackle was on its way over. And that's exactly what he did.

The timing and reaction to the EX tackle were perfect here, and landing the Critical Art won Zangitan the game.

Zangief is currently ranked the worst character in the entire game in our Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition tiers section. On top of that, he is on the losing side of 8 out of the 10 worst match ups in the game.

Reacting to and punishing Urien's EX Chariot Tackle before it even hits you is impressive. But doing it with potentially the worst character in the game? Godlike.
