Reveal trailer shows off trademark usage of rocks, knife and more

We had hints all weekend long leading up to Sunday's Street Fighter 5 finals, but now we've finally got our first in-game look at Cody Travers as he appears in the latest iteration of the fighting game franchise.

As we gathered from the Season 3 DLC character reveal trailer and recent teases, Cody has left his convict look in lieu of some dapper new clothes. Said change of outfit is apt considering he is now the mayor of Metro City in the game's lore.

We also get to Mayor Travers in a Mike Haggar alternate costume as he utilizes a lead pipe to sock rocks at his foes. It appears as though Cody gains access to both his knife and said pipe depending on which V-Trigger players choose.

V-Trigger 1, Side Arm, has Cody wielding his trademark knife. He can throw the knife mid-combo, where he loses possession of it. The assumption right now is throwing the knife is its own command.

V-Trigger 2, Bad Coach, gives Cody his pipe and allows him to knock rocks up into the air that come down on the opponent later on. Think R. Mika's Nadeshiko V-Trigger 1, or Kolin's Hail Storms. The pipe seems to add to the range of some of his attacks, and the assumption would be you'd do more damage when wielding it. This V-Trigger can send the rock flying out directly ahead as well, hitting multiple times, and busting through Abigail's multi-hit absorbing armor.

Cody looks to be a power character, who possibly may have a strong V-Trigger, or two. He doesn't appear to have much in the way of ranged normals or abilities, but he seems like he can lay the smack down on someone once he works his way inside, and pops a V-Trigger.

The reveal also gives us an official release date, and it looks like the Final Fight character will be joining the roster in just under a month's time on June 26th.

Here are some screen shots as well as Cody's alternate costumes including the Haggar alternate, a classy suite, a nostalgic prison uniform and a Final Fight white tee and jeans getup. The latter two see a change in hair style to ruffled and boyish looks respectively.
