Crowdfunding campaigns have now become pretty commonplace in the realm of video games though fully crowdfunded fighting games are a bit of a rarer sight to come across on places like Kickstarter and Indiegogo.

Huracan Studio recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for a new 2D fighting game called Terrordrome - Reign of the Legends which features a range of classic and new horror characters steeped in stories, myths and legends.

Reign of the Legends is an indirect sequel/ spiritual successor to Terrordrome - Rise of the Boogeymen, a free to download fighting game that used modern horror film characters like Jason Voorhees, Ghostface and Pinhead.

The game is currently scheduled to launch with 10 characters (more for stretch goals) and gameplay that appears to be inspired by the modern Mortal Kombat titles with GGPO netplay. A demo with online play featuring Frankenstein's Monster and the Sasquatch is currently available to download on their Kickstarter page.

The team is seeking just under $100,000 USD to meet their goal by June 23rd for a PC release scheduled for 2019 and a beta version this year. More characters, story and PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are among the stretch goals for the campaign.

You can check out the gallery of planned characters and their bios below and some of the tech demo gameplay after the jump.
