Many players on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch got their first hands-on play time with Arc System Works' newest fighting game, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, with its open beta that concluded yesterday.

Fighting game content creator and streamer Maximilian recently uploaded a video containing his thoughts about the game's mechanics and appeal as a tag-team crossover anime fighting game.

He believes the game's mechanics are initially daunting, similarly to the other BlazBlue and Guilty Gear games from ArcSys, but progression happens pretty naturally once you play a little more in which ideas like universal mechanics help out with.

Max also compares the tag system in the game to another recent 2v2 fighter in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite for what it does right for making the characters feel like they're actually working together and not just fulfilling roles.

Max feels that the biggest detering factor of this game is its roster, but that people who love ArcSys and anime fighters will be right at home in Cross Tag Battle. Those that aren't though may have a harder time finding characters that they like.

Max states that out of all of the "anime games" he's played over the years, he probably likes Cross Tag Battle the most. You can check out his full video after the jump.
