Capcom has just announced an all new tournament series that players can look forward to this year. The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary tournament series will focus on the upcoming Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, allowing competitors to battle it out in some of Capcom's classic fighting titles.

The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary tournament series is comprised of three individual Street Fighter tournaments. Each on will be taking place at upcoming major fighting game community events.

A specific title from the 30th Anniversary Collection will be played at each tournament, beginning with Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo at CEO 2018 in June. Street Fighter Alpha 3 will follow at SoCal Regionals 2018 in September, and finally Street Fighter 3 Third Strike at Canada Cup in October.

Each of these tournaments will come with a $7,000 prize pool. If you'd like to enter any of these events, you'll be able to do so through each of the major tournaments' websites.

The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary tournament series aims to celebrate and recapture the competitive spirit that inspired players around the world. From those who played in the arcades and the pizza parlors, to the warriors at home, this tournament series will surely be a trip down memory lane for many.

Capcom is making an even larger push into the realm of eSports. Not only do we already have the major tournament circuit, the Capcom Pro Tour, running all year long, but it seems the company is aiming even higher.

In their latest Investor Relations report, Capcom noted that they are preparing for a "full-scale entry into the eSports business." Capcom recently appointed two corporate officers to their eSports division, and believes that 2018 will be their "eSports year one."

It's not surprising at all to see another Street Fighter title given the eSports treatment. Earlier this week, we learned that Street Fighter is Capcom's third best-selling franchise, only topped by Resident Evil and Monster Hunter.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on May 29th.
