Hayate and Sanane revealed for Fighting EX Layer
Sketches of possible DLC characters are also shown
A new trailer was released on Arika's YouTube channel. Arika is the company behind the development of Fighting EX Layer.
Initially, the trailer showed off some of Shadow Geist's capabilities. Eventually, new characters Hayate and Sanane were also revealed to be playable fighters in the upcoming game.
While Hayate made his debut in Street Fighter EX 2, Sanane appears to be an entirely new combatant. Sanane appears to be wielding a Naginata as her weapon of choice. Interestingly enough, Sanane is an anagram of Nanase who also debuted in Street Fighter EX 2
With the addition of these two characters, this makes the roster have a total of 12 fighters. If you count Hokuto, then that actually makes 13.
After the short trailer ended, Arika's president, Akira Nishitani, had a special message at the end. He mentioned that he would like to be able to do DLC characters after the release of the game.
This is going to be completely dependent on the game's first month sales -- they won't be able to afford to do this if they don't sell enough. A number of sketches were shown of fighters that they would like to do as DLC later down the road; I imagine the last character was just an April Fool's joke... though considering this game's history, there really is no telling with Arika.
Fighting EX Layer will be releasing sometime in June 2018 for the PlayStation 4.
