Infiltration's Menat is hard to pin down, Nemo's lethal Aegis Reflector mix ups, and more: Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition Final Round highlights

Our favorite moments from the first CPT Premier event's top 8 finals

The main event at Final Round 2018 has officially concluded. Tonight we saw a top 8 consisting of some of the greatest Street Fighter 5 players in the world.

This event in Atlanta, Georgia, also happened to be the first stop on the 2018 Capcom Pro Tour. Being the first Premier event of the season, there was a nice chunk of CPT points on the line.

Let's take a look at some of our favorite plays from the Arcade Edition finals.

One of the first top 8 matches we had today was FOX|Tokido vs. Fursan|Verloren. With both players running glass cannons -- Akuma and Cammy, respectively -- the set was all about explosive damage.

In the very first round, Tokido found himself cornered and with very little health left. Somehow, he managed to escape his rough situation and bring it all the way back, stunning Verloren and winning the first round.

By the third round of the same game, Verloren had things looking bad for Tokido. Two confirms into V-Trigger and a Critical Art were all she wrote for the Raging Demon.

Ultimately, Tokido walked away with a 3-2 victory, hit confirming cr. MK into fireball and a Critical Art to close out the set.

If Liquid|Nemo is in a tournament's top 8, then chances are he's going to make it into our highlights. When up against DATA|Neon's Kolin, the Aegis Reflector master gave us numerous plays to marvel at.

Neon also put on a spectacular show with the icy Season 2 combatant. His pressure and V-Trigger 2 usage proved top-notch throughout the entire weekend.

Now a free agent, NuckleDu had a strong showing during today's top 8 action. Using his trademark Guile and the costume he helped design for winning Capcom Cup 2016, he pulled off an impressive and damaging sequence against Gachikun's Rashid.

Verloren's offensive pressure is serious business, especially when considering the fact that it was so effective against another offensive powerhouse: Nemo. Watch as Cammy's forward throws and corner control keep Urien locked down.

Tokido and PG|Infiltration first clashed at Final Round 2018 in the winners finals. Menat's keep away playstyle created a strong wall against Akuma's offense, and several rounds came down to the wire.

Featured here we have a time over that almost ended badly for Infiltration, a KO with only three seconds left on the clock, and the final play of their winners finals set.

And to close out our hype tournament weekend, we have the Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition grand finals featuring none other than Tokido and Infiltration.

Coming from the losers side, Tokido ended up resetting the bracket with another close 3-2 result. With a completely dominant round, Tokido put a hurt on Infiltration, showing that he would not be sent home without a fight. Also, Tokido's reaction to the reset is too darn good.

In the final 3/5 of the tournament, Menat's V-Trigger 1 orbs were a strong tool in keeping Akuma at bay. Even when Tokido had a punish, the orbs had other plans...

At the end of the day, Infiltration claimed a 3-1 victory over Tokido, winning another one of the largest Arcade Edition tournaments since the game's launch back in January. You can check out the final play of this weekend's event below.
