Super Smash Bros. has become the game for all-time dream match ups for video game characters ever since the release of Brawl back in 2008 though it has yet to move beyond realm of game characters.

Nobody expected to see the likes of Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid and Sonic the Hedgehog in Smash Bros. when Brawl was coming out. Now after Mega Man, Final Fantasy 7's Cloud and Bayonetta's inclusion in Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS, it feels like anything could be possible moving forward.

Dragon Ball's Western distributor Funimation reached out to Nintendo on Twitter to ask the game company when their "boy Goku is going to join the fight" following the announcement theat a newSuper Smash Bros. game is coming to the Switch.

Goku from Dragon Ball Z fame has been joked about and seriously requested to appear in the Smash games since the days of Brawl and some fans have gone so far as to make mods in the game featuring the Super Saiyan. Some of Nintendo's characters like Metroid's Ridley are still waiting for their spots on the roster as well.

Super Smash Bros. has never featured a multimedia character like Goku before, but if companies are open to talking to each other, anything could be possible. Just think back to the Star Wars characters in Soul Calibur 4. Who could have expected that?

Check out Funimation's full tweet below, and tell us if you think characters outside of those from game series should be included in Super Smash Bros. after the jump.
