Bandai Namco has officially unveiled Soul Calibur 6's first guest character this morning. The Witcher's Geralt of Rivia joins the game's playable roster.

In his gameplay trailer, we see Geralt battling with Mitsurugi.

Geralt is a monster hunter for hire in The Witcher series. He is a master swordsman with superhuman abilities, and is also an alchemist which allows him to cast "signs" (spells).

As we see in today's footage, Geralt fights mainly with his broadsword, but we also see him utilizing signs with certain attacks. The trailer gives us a look at his super move as well, which sees him striking his foe with sword slashes and elemental magic for a devastating sequence.

Leading up to this announcement, hints about Geralt's potential inclusion in Soul Calibur 6 surfaced on Twitter. CD PRojekt Red’s community lead Marcin Momot tweeted, "What if Geralt was going to step out of the @witchergame for the very first time to make an appearance in one of the upcoming games later this year?"

With Bandai Namco having helped CD Projekt Red with distribution of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand, the crossover was definitely plausible.

Soul Calibur 6 is due out sometime this year.
