Around this time last year, balance changes were announced for Street Fighter 5 Season 2

Will there be a Season 3.5 that readjusts things further?

The Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition update was released on January 16, 2018. This update is very much connected to the Season 3 balance adjustments that launched on the same day.

Despite the little time that has elapsed, players are already getting a good feel of the meta. It's fairly clear on which fighters will rank high on the tier list, and who will end up being low tier.

Last year, during Season 2, there was a point before the Capcom Pro Tour really got started where another balance patch was announced and released by Capcom. While the name is unofficial, we've been referring to this part of the season as "Season 2.5."

This initial confirmation came on February 9, 2017. The balance patch must've been in its early planning stages as all this confirmation did was reveal that there would be further announcements on the subject in March of that year.

On March 15, 2017, more information about the balance patch surfaced. It was announced that they would be available by the end of April.

We ended up learning about a beta test for some new CFN changes. This would also give us a sneak peak at some of the patch changes. These announcements came on March 23, 2017.

The beta test would kick off on March 27, 2017. The success of the test would encourage Capcom to do it a second time. Unfortunately, the patch, with all its changes, would be delayed as a result.

It was a long wait, but the update would eventually go live on May 31, 2017. There would be no more balance adjustments made for the rest of the year.

"The players experienced a total of 52 days of Season 2 before the next set of balance adjustments were announced. We are currently on day 50 for Season 3."

Now by this point, we've already passed the date of February 9th for Season 3. We're just starting the month of March.

With that said, the first Season 2 update actually went live on December 20, 2016. This was a bit earlier compared to the Season 3 patch that was made available on January 16th.

The players experienced a total of 52 days of Season 2 before the next set of balance adjustments were announced. We are currently on day 50 for Season 3.

Obviously there's no guarantee that there will be a "Season 3.5." If it were to happen, we would likely have to hear about it rather soon. Ideally, it would be less disruptive if changes were implemented before the Capcom Pro Tour takes off.
