Ridley totally mocked Mario in his Super Smash Bros. Ultimate trailer and it was absolutely savage

That cap spin, though

It's the final day of E3 2018 and Nintendo kicked off the expo week by opening the floodgates on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Nintendo Switch.

By this point, I've seen a lot of Ridley in the new Smash Bros., and yet I still cannot believe he actually made it onto the roster. Clearly, we're far from the darkest timeline...

Amidst all of the excitement and the wealth of information dropped on us, we seem to have missed a small reference in Ridley's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate reveal trailer. If you blinked during that trailer, you probably missed it, but it's so good we just had to share it here.

Ridley's reveal trailer saw a team of Samus, Mario, and Mega Man walking along a bridge in what looked like a Metroid space station. As they cautiously move forward in a line, Ridley swoops in and picks off Mega Man and Mario leaving Samus to face him.

Twitter user theSirToasty pointed out that when Ridley finally shows himself after taking out Mario, he spins Mario's trademark hat on his finger as he stares down Samus with a devilish look on his face. The cap spin on the finger is clearly a direct nod to one of the early Super Mario Odyssey trailers, and considering the fact that he just bodied Mario, there's no way he's not totally mocking him with the same move.

Aside from the fact that this moment is just flat out awesome, it doubles as a testament to Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. trailers. The cinematics we get for the series are always top notch, and Ridley's reveal keeps with that motif.
