Why we hate Street Fighter 5... but also love it - EventHubs Podcast episode 4

Posted by Jonathan 'Catalyst' Grey • June 13, 2018 at 7:01 p.m. PDT

Street Fighter 5 is one of the most divisive games in the fighting game community when it comes how people feel about it. It's rare to hear someone simply say that the game is "OK," as it usually sparks feelings of love, or hate.

The EHubs team goes in on the title, talking about how brutal and intense this experience can be, as SF5 is a game full of highs and lows, and in that, it's both a strength and weakness of the title.

Being steam rolled and feeling like you were totally helpless is one of the drawbacks to this game, because defensive options are more limited than past titles, and the game is geared towards commitment based play and offense.

Other notes include the game being particularly volatile and that leading to inconsistent results for players across the board. Although, a counter point is brought up that a number of players have found consistent results for periods of time, namely PG|Infiltration, FOX|Tokido and FOX|Punk.

We also get into how extremely important mental composure is in SF5. Because of how unforgiving this title is, one mistake can mean the end for you, so keeping yourself in tip top mental shape is extremely key.

From this point forward, we'll have an embed of each podcast in these stories, but you can still grab the episode from your favorite podcasting services, or download it and listen wherever you want.
