Masahiro Sakurai spotted 2-3 bugs during the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Invitational; One of them might be related to Bayonetta's touch of death

Despite it being the first tournament to showcase the game, the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Invitational of E3 2018 was a very hype event. Masahiro Sakurai watched the whole thing unfold.

After the event came to its conclusion, Masahiro Sakurai went on stage to inform everyone that he was going straight back to work in the morning -- amazing dedication! He also mentioned that he observed a total of two or three bugs while watching the tournament.

One of these bugs might actually be related to everyone's "favorite" character, Bayonetta. An event that is very familiar to Super Smash Bros. 4 players occurred in the match between FOX|MKLeo and PG|Plup.

While utilizing Bayonetta, MKLeo was able to pull off her infamous touch of death combo on Plup's Ridley. Many were surprised to see that this was still in the game. Did you know that this combo is mostly possible due to a bug called the "Triple Jump Glitch"?

Normally, Bayonetta is only able to perform one Witch Twist for each of her jumps. This allows her to jump twice and use two Witch Twists. It's actually possible to cancel the beginning portion of a double jump with a Witch Twist for a little extra vertical height without expending the double jump.

Bayonetta gets some bonus air while comboing the opponent. Typically this combo ends with the opponent in the background as the two were able to ascend to the very top. Slow down the GIF below, and you'll see that MKLeo was able to pull this off in the new game.

Here's a more in-depth explanation on how the Triple Jump Glitch works:

The question here is whether or not Masahiro Sakurai was able to spot the phenomenon occurring. Considering his keen eye for details, the possibility seems very plausible.

By performing that combo in front of everyone, MKLeo may have just set the wheels in motion to finally have the witch nerfed.
