Cody can build V-Gauge at the cost of his own health in Street Fighter 5

Equivalent exchange I guess

E3 is in full swing in Los Angeles, California where players and media are getting their hands on new games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate along with new content like Cody in Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition.

Cody is currently playable at Capcom's E3 booth giving many players their first opportunity to try out the new mayor of Metro City and learn any secrets he may be hiding below the surface.

Long "LPN" Nguyen shared a clip of Cody's Double Kick V-Skill in action pointing out that the move builds the character's V-Gauge by a significant portion even if the attack doesn't hit the opponent, but it comes at a potentially high cost.

Cody's V-Skill attack is a great anti-air move and combo finisher though it functions similarly to its origins in Final Fight. The attack drains Cody's health in the form of gray life in Street Fighter 5.

Given the rate at which the move builds his V-Trigger bar, this could put Cody players in a unique position to voluntarily build meter while putting their precious vitality in jeopardy. A feature like this could prove to be a potential tactic for trading a bit of life to reach V-Trigger faster or a V-Reversal stocked and ready to go.

We still have almost another two weeks to wait before Cody drops officially on June 26th, but you can check out LPN's video below and references to Cody's move set and appearance here.
