Nintendo just concluded their E3 2018 Nintendo Direct conference. To close out their Super Smash Bros. Ultimate presentation, the company revealed that Ridley will be a playable character in the game.

The trailer showed Mario, Mega Man, and Samus confront the Metroid series villain. We were also given a look at the first-ever Ridley gameplay.

The trailer showcased several of Ridley's moves, including a series of fireballs, what appears to be up throw, and more.

We also see Meta Ridley, which is likely an alternate color/costume.

Ridley has a tail strike attack that stuns the opponent momentarily before they get hit with an explosion and are sent flying. Also shown are several air attacks including a diving strike.

For the Final Smash, Ridley sends the opponent flying into Samus's ship as it tries to make an escape. He then fires a blast of energy from his mouth, destroying the space craft.

Ridley has been one of, if not, the most highly requested character to join Super Smash Bros. over the years. We've seen glimpses of the Metroid baddie in every Smash Bros. game to-date, whether it be as a trophy or in the background of a stage.

Previously, Super Smash Bros. series creator Masahiro Sakurai explained that adding Ridley to the game's roster would be too difficult as Nintendo would be forced to reduce the character's size and leave out other major traits of the character to do so.

In 2018, Nintendo has finally made the dream of Ridley in Super Smash Bros. a reality.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is headed to the Nintendo Switch on December 7th.
