Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was only just fully revealed today, but some of the best players of previous Smash games came together to fight it out in a special tournament hosted by Nintendo at E3.

The Super Smash Bros. Invitational 2018 featured the likes of TSM|ZeRo, Alliance|Armada, C9|Mango, FOX|MKLeo, Abadango, PG|Plup, BC|Mr. R and DIG|Lucky for equal representation of Smash 4 and Melee players.

These pro players looked sharp for their first time playing though they played the entire tournament with items on leading to some fun and unexpected moments on more than a few occasions.

Each player needed to choose a roster of three characters to rotate between, so we were able to see a good portion of the demo's 30 characters including Inkling, Snake and Ridley.

ZeRo was the most dominant Smash 4 player before his retirement at the beginning of this year, and this was our first time seeing him play on the big stage since where he showed he hasn't lost his edge by taking the whole tournament.

Let's start off the highlights with ZeRo's comeback using Sheik against MkLeo's Snake to reach Grand Finals in spectacular fashion.

ZeRo and Armada finish off Plup and Abadango in quick succession in their 2v2 set.

Lucky busts open the Smash Ball with Marth, but ends up KO'ing himself with his own Final Smash... I feel his pain.

MkLeo and Mang0 lay the smack down on Lucky landing a nice cooperative blow and show off Ultimate's new slowdown effect multiple times.

A wild Electrode appears during the free-for-all between Mang0, Abadango, Plup and Armada though it looks to be a dud... but is it?

ZeRo and Armada compete for the attention of the coveted Smash Ball ending in explosive fashion.

Mang0 covers MkLeo's Sonic in colorful ink, but Sonic has the last laugh.

Armada and Plup are no strangers in the Melee battlefield, but here they face off in Smash Ultimate for the first time in pretty crazy fashion.

Plup shows off Ridley's crazy rapid fire jab, but MkLeo bounces right back with Bayonetta's Final Smash.

ZeRo makes the ultimate read on MkLeo's recovery with his perfectly placed up smash with Mario.

ZeRo takes it all once again over MkLeo.
