It's been a good six years since Dead or Alive 5 initially dropped and though fans of the series weren't necessarily expecting a new entry, we found out yesterday that an all new Dead or Alive 6 is on the horizon.

IGN scored an interview with the game's Director, Yohei Shimbori, who detailed some of what DOA6 will have to offer.

As Shimbori talks about the game, we see some footage of Dead or Alive 6's new mechanics in action. These include the Side Attack, Break Gauge, Fatal Lash/Stun, Break Blow and Break Hold.

The details on what these all do and how to perform them are included over at Free Step Dodge, but we'll share the specifics for Fatal Last/Stun to give you an idea.

"Pressing that 4th button continuously is an activity all characters can trigger.... the first hit will initiate Fatal Stun, which puts the opponent in an unprotected state, and the normal hold can not be performed. If your gauge bar is filled you can use "Break Blow" on the last hit. This will be an easy move to pull off for beginners, but the timing of it will be complex for high level play."

Some of this ties directly into DOA6's attempt to reach more casual audiences with easier execution, as Shimbori notes that it "kind of evens the battlefield a little bit." You can view the full interview below.

If the video doesn't automatically jump, the part you're looking for is at 3:27:25.
