Canadian comic book fan breaks Guinness World Record for most Marvel Comics tattoos

He's got 31 in total

A dedicated Marvel Comics fan recently broke the record for having a lot of tattoos featuring characters from the company's vast library of super heroes and villains. The Guinness Book of World Records awarded Rick Scolamiero, who hails from Canada, the record for "most Marvel comic book characters tattooed on the body."

Scolamiero got his first ink back in 2011 -- a tattoo of Spider-Man. The super fan now has a total of 31 figures from the Marvel Comics universe on his body.

The original plan for Scolamiero was to get a sleeve done that portrayed his favorite Marvel heroes and villains. But as anyone with tattoos knows, one tattoo often leads to another, then another, and another...

"I fell in love with the artist’s work and wanted to continue to see what else we could come up with regarding tattoos," Scolamiero told Guinness. "I have been a Marvel comic lover since I was small and growing up we didn’t have much, but I always had my Marvel comics and Marvel trading cards.

"They actually got me through some tough times so the idea of having them on my body forever just really appealed to me."

A-list characters such as Spider-Man, Venom, X-Men's Wolverine, all of the Guardians of the Galaxy (Groot, Star Lord, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, and Drax), Thanos, several of The Avengers, and more are represented here -- many of these characters appearing in our favorite Versus series games.

Damn it... now I totally want some fresh ink.
