It's not everyday that we share tier lists for games that are 20 years old, but with the recent release of Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, there are a ton of new eyes on older titles.

One such title is Street Fighter Alpha 3, which dropped back in 1998. Some attention was shot back at this game due to the inclusion of Alpha characters like R. Mika, Karin and Birdie in Street Fighter 5, but now players have an easy means of getting a firsthand taste of this classic.

With the recent rush to Alpha 3, some of the more seasoned members of the community are sharing tips, tricks and tiers to help jump start newcomers' experiences. Arturo Sanchez uncovered a somewhat recent tier list to share on Twitter.

Said list includes all 28 of the game's playable characters across seven separate tier categories. While we weren't surprised to see Akuma amongst the best, other fighters that haven't seen as much top tier glory in recent years join him.

Floe chimed into the comment thread asking why Sodom places higher than Karin and Sakura. Bas, one of the absolute greatest to ever play the game, chimed into Arturo's comment thread with explanation as to why, which you can view after the jump.

As mentioned above, there was some discussion about why exactly Sodom joins the likes of Dhalsim and Akuma in the very top tier.

Here are Bas' notes on what it is that gives him the edge over strong characters like Karin and Sakura:

If you've had experience playing Alpha 3, please head over to our Tiers page and add your opinions to the mix. The current list has only been live since 30th Anniversary dropped a few days back, and as such is still in the earlier development stages.
