Early impressions tier lists for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate by ESAM and Jtails

Common themes exist between both players' impressions

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be releasing on December 7, 2018. As a result of this, basically everything that we've seen about the game up to this point is subject to change. The roster is absolutely massive since "everyone is here."

It would be crazy if someone were to try to create a tier list for a game that hasn't even been released yet, right? There's still so much about the game that is unknown to us all. This hasn't stopped ESAM and Jtails from creating tier lists anyhow.

Now it's very important to understand that these are meant to just give early impressions on everything. With that said, ESAM and Jtails are both very knowledgeable when it comes to the Super Smash Bros. series.

ESAM is widely regarded as the best Pikachu player in Super Smash Bros. 4. Interestingly enough, he's very well known for rating Pikachu higher than the position that most would place him at. With that said, it looks like Pikachu has received a plethora of buffs in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so ESAM's opinions about Pikachu might be more aligned with other top players this time around.

While ESAM only rates the characters that were playable in demos during E3 2018, CEO 2018, and San Diego Comic Con, Jtails opts to rate every fighter that we know about — even if we haven't had the chance to actually play them yet. These impressions are based on the trailers that reveal small snippets of their gameplay.

There are definitely similarities that can be drawn between the two tier lists that have been constructed. Of course, there are some differences too. Check them out:
