Many have been speculating that Soul Calibur 6 is a reboot of the Soul Calibur franchise. We've already known about the fact that the timeline of the game actually takes place during the events of Soul Calibur 2.

During a recent interview with IGN, Mark Religioso — Bandai Namco Soul Calibur brand manager — revealed that Soul Calibur 6's story is basically a retelling of the story of Soul Calibur 1 and 2. More specifically, it's told from a different perspective.

This reveals the meaning behind the tagline that "history hides away more than one truth." It was revealed that the story of Soul Calibur 6 will be told from the perspective of Kilik.

While Cervantes — who is currently unannounced for Soul Calibur 6 — was the main villain in Soul Edge, Nightmare took up this role in Soul Calibur and its sequel. More than likely, Nightmare will play the role as antagonist considering his acts during the first two Soul Calibur titles.

Interestingly enough, it was also revealed that newcomer Grøh will be somewhat of a protagonist in the game's story mode too. Not too much has been revealed about his backstory outside of this.
