Did those Street Fighter tarot cards give us a glimpse at Street Fighter 5 Season 4? Five characters featured are not on the game's current roster

Five returning and one brand new? Seems like a great mix for the next season

The release date for Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection in Japan was recently announced by Capcom. We'll be seeing it launch on October 25th, 2018, and those who opt to pick it up can choose from the standard version or two different collector's editions.

One of the bonuses for the higher priced purchase options is a set of tarot cards featuring characters from all across the 30 years of Street Fighter. Each one has a title on the front in the style of traditional tarot cards, such as "Death" for Sagat or "The Sun" for Sakura.

We recently put together a gallery of these tarot cards, which gave us a closer look at each one. Outside of the fact that they simply look awesome, there's an interesting tidbit among them: of the 22 cards, only five of the characters are not currently in Street Fighter 5.

Represented within the cards we have Ryu, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, Cammy, Urien, Guile, Zangief, Karin, Nash, Akuma, Balrog, R. Mika, Vega, Sakura, M. Bison, G, and Sagat — those last two aren't playable yet, but are rounding out the remainder of Season 3. The remaining five characters consist of Rose, Rolento, Oro, Elena, and C. Viper.

Now, it's worth mentioning that these tarot cards aren't meant to be directly tied to Street Fighter 5. They're a bonus for the 30th Anniversary Collection and are likely just rounding up characters from the different titles over the years.

Still, the five odd men / women out are definitely interesting and have me thinking that this could potentially be a glimpse at Street Fighter 5 Season 4.

As we know, each Street Fighter 5 DLC season so far has come with six new playable characters. If the aforementioned characters were indeed in the line up for Season 4, and if Capcom stuck with the same amount of characters, that would give us five returning fighters and one potentially brand new — which would be a good mix.

The five previously mentioned characters also make up strong representation of the various major Street Fighter games. Rose and Rolento would bring in two new Street Fighter Alpha representatives, Elena and Oro give us two from Street Fighter 3 Third Strike, and C. Viper would add one from Street Fighter 4.

Each of Street Fighter 5's waves of DLC characters has changed up the number of representatives from past Street Fighter games. Here's a quick breakdown to refresh your memory.

Season 1

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike - 3 characters
Street Fighter 2 - 2 characters
Street Fighter 4 - 1 character

Season 2

Street Fighter 2 - 1 character
Brand new - 5 characters

Season 3

Street Fighter Alpha - 2 characters
Street Fighter 2 - 2 characters
Brand new - 2 characters

If we did indeed see Oro, Rose, Rolento, Elena, and C. Viper join Street Fighter 5 next season, the line up of representatives wouldn't be far off from what we saw in Season 1 and Season 3.

Another thing worth mentioning is the rumors that we've been hearing for quite some time now. Viper, Necro, Q, Oro, and Sodom have been rumored to join Street Fighter 5 for just about a year now, with recent rumors claiming Makoto and two new characters — one expected to be F.A.N.G.'s apprentice, Phantom — are also inbound for next year.

While the rumors don't reflect the cards exactly, seeing Capcom feature C. Viper and Oro in them is something to think about. Perhaps they're switching things up and adding some different characters instead, assuming the rumors were true to begin with.

Naturally, this is all just speculation. All I'm saying is if Capcom hid the majority of Street Fighter 5 Season 4's DLC roster right under our noses with these cards, that would be a pretty baller move.

Also, tarot cards predicting the future? That would be pretty perfect.
