Simple and easy to pick up fighting games can be some of the most fun you can have with friends and can actually teach you the most about fundamentals and mindset with titles like Divekick which can be applied directly to the more advanced fighters out there.

HiFight is normally found on Twitter sharing some of the more interesting and exciting fighting game related clips from around the internet, but now they're stepping into the role of game developer to show people how to really play the neutral game.

The dedicated fighting game fan recently uploaded his own Unity developed fighting game called Footsies which focuses on, you guessed it, footsies along with neutral play, hit confirms, whiff punishes and other fundamental concepts important to most games in the genre.

Footsies features one playable character with its simple appearance and move set based off Ryu from Street Fighter 3 using a single attack button with a standing kick, crouching forward kick, uppercut and donkey kick, and the objective of the game is to hit your opponent with a special to knock them out — three knock outs equals victory.

Currently, the game supports single-player matches versus the computer and two-player local versus matches though HiFight is looking into the possibilities of online play. By pressing F12 in the game, you can view the hit box, hurt box and frame data while in matches.

Footsies is currently free to download and try for yourself on HiFight's website. You can check out screens of the game in the gallery below and a trailer for this new simple, yet smart fighting game after the jump.
