Just moments ago, Capcom released a new blog over on Capcom Unity that delves deeper into the major game modes we can expect in Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition. We're given a recap of Arcade and Team Battle mode, as well as new details regarding Extra Battle, Gallery, and more.

Extra Battle Mode gives players the opportunity to earn special costumes and titles by completing specific challenges each month. Today's blog reveals that the first special outfit you can win is a Viewtiful Joe costume for Rashid.

Capcom has released Extra Battle Mode schedules for the first month of Arcade Edition.

Each challenge must be completed in the date range according to the tables below. For the costume challenges, you will earn a special icon for finishing each, and collecting all four icons will grant you the outfit.

If you complete the challenges again afterwards, you will receive a Bonus Reward. This will be listed when the Extra Battle Challenges start on January 16th.

Special Challenges are scattered throughout the year and grant players access to special titles. The first is for a title called "Dark Revenger."

These challenges are not to be confused with the weekly missions, which will still be a part of Street Fighter 5 when AE drops and will still reward Fight Money.

When attempting to earn the special crossover costumes, Golden Shadaloo soldiers will appear for a limited time and will offer a decent sum of Fight Money for winning. Unlike the other challenges, these soldiers can be played a finite amount of times.

Capcom will continue to publish blogs with information on these challenges so that players will know what's coming in the near future. They also aim to keep players informed every week on their social channels, so be sure to follow them on Twitter and on Facebook to stay plugged in.

The long-awaited Arcade Mode makes its debut in Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition. Fans will be able to play through six different themed paths that represent the main titles in the Street Fighter franchise: Street Fighter, Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter 3, Street Fighter 4, and Street Fighter 5.

Each path contains characters faithful to the respective title, with the exception of characters that are meant to represent others who aren't currently in Street Fighter 5 -- Zeku represents Geki in the first Street Fighter, for example.

As you play through the Arcade paths, you'll earn a score based on performance. Scores will be displayed on a leaderboard, and the highest earners will be given unique titles.

Increasing your score can be done by finishing your opponents quickly, performing special moves such as a Crush Counter, getting a Perfect, etc. You can also complete the barrel-breaking bonus stage to get an even higher score.

Completing the Arcade paths will give you one of over 200 ending images. These come in the form of both character story images and all-new, custom illustrations.

Team Battle pits squads of up to five players against each other in a race to victory. There are two different settings for this mode: Elimination and Best of Series.

In Elimination, the first team to have all of their players lose will suffer defeat. The Best of Series sees each team member matched up against their corresponding opponent until one team wins the majority of the matches

These matches have preferences that can be altered to fit your desired battle. Winning players can retain EX meter, regain health, and more with these options.

Team Battle isn't all about teams, though. Players can join up with a friend to choose their own teams and see who can win in a 3v3 Elimination match, which the blog notes is "similar to past Capcom crossover titles."

Every character in the game will be given a second V-Trigger, which will be selected before the match starts and grants the character new abilities and different options in battle. Sakura, Season 3's first DLC character, will also have a second V-Trigger.

An option to easily switch between Triggers will be available in Training Mode. You will find it by going to the Options menu and going to Version Select.

You can find the full list of second V-Triggers and what they look like here.

Arcade Edition will also feature a Gallery Mode. Here, you will be able to view the 200+ Arcade Mode endings.

The Sound option will allow you to listen to stage background music, character themes, and DLC background music, and you will also be able to view movies like Arcade Edition's cinematic opening video in this mode.

Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition is a free update for those who already own the game. You will be given access to everything mentioned here, but Season 1 and Season 2 DLC characters are not included free in the update.

Those who purchase AE will get all Season 1 and 2 characters in the form of a download code. Pre-ordering a physical of the game at select retailers in North America will give you nine bonus costumes: the Nostalgia and 30th Anniversary costumes.
