If you ask any and all members of the fighting game community which tournament they'd go to if they could choose only one, the most prevalent answer you'd hear would be "EVO."

That's because EVO is the biggest and baddest event all year long, and a Mecca for fighting game players the world over. The major has been a recurring Las Vegas event for the past 16 years, with three prior tournaments under the old moniker "Battle by the Bay" in Sunnyvale, California.

Vice attended EVO this year with a few cameras on two of the strongest, and youngest, players competing today: Victor "PG|Punk" Woodley and Dominique "FOX|Sonic Fox" McLean.

At the time of the event last year, these two were the favorites to win in their respective games, Street Fighter 5 and Injustice 2. Vice recently released their documentary as they followed both Woodley and McLean through their exciting and emotional EVO 2017 experiences.

His first time ever attending the Las Vegas event, Woodley went from widely being a fighting game online-only warrior to best in the world in just a few month's time. McLean had dominated the Mortal Kombat scene for a few years running, and showed incredible promise in Injustice 2, a game made by the same company.

With an already mountainous road to victory ahead of them, they also must field nerves, sickness and the weight of expectations as they face off with the rest of the best.
