Gill spotted in both Boss Rush and Story Mode by X-Kira in Street Fighter 5

We're not so sure he'll be playable, but one theory suggests that he could be

If you've been following Street Fighter 5 for any amount of time, then you've probably seen leaks from X-Kira, a data miner hailing from Susano, Brazil.

With Arcade Edition set to launch two weeks from today, there's a ton of new content coming to Street Fighter 5, including the all new Arcade Mode and an alleged "Boss Rush" mode that seemingly allows players to take on a handful of fighters that belong to specific organizations such as Shadaloo or the Mad Gear Gang.

One such avenue in this mode is the Illuminati ladder, which ends with Third Strike big baddie (and brother of Urien) Gill. X-Kira has provided footage of this ladder while playing as Decapre, as well as a quick round against Gill.

We've seen non-playable characters, such as Decapre or Peter, in Story Mode already. These characters often appear to be copies of already existing fighters (Decapre has most of Cammy's animations) with a few of their own special moves peppered in.

Gill doesn't perform any specials in this single round, and he appears to be molded from a Urien template. It's also worth noting that Urien received a Gill costume back in the October batch of Halloween alternates.

What really catches our attention is the fact that X-Kira has also apparently found a slot for Gill in Character Story, which would suggest he's playable to some capacity. We're having a hard time explaining this one, except for one theory that's been floating around. First, here are the images provided by X-Kira:

There have been quite a few theories about the true identity of newcomer "G" who was revealed for the first time at the end of Capcom Cup this year.

One such theory, as articulated by BornFree, is that G is actually Gill in disguise.

Appearance changes have been a modus operandi of the Illuminati, recently showcased when Gill transformed Helen into Kolin at the end of the game's cinematic story mode. The idea behind this theory is that G could be a disguise Gill uses, and can transform out of at will.

Perhaps activating G's V-Trigger would see him turn into Gill for the remainder of the fight? There are still many questions and many possible explanations for X-Kira's findings, including one that simply says the content he's showing won't even reach the final build of Arcade Edition.

What do you think on the matter? Is the idea of G actually being Gill too farfetched? Chime in to the comments below with your thoughts and inputs.
