Michelangelo can actually eat pizza during a match in Injustice 2, and it's easily my new favorite gear move

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are full of surprises

NetherRealm Studios gave the world an in-depth look at Injustice 2's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles yesterday during their Watchtower live stream. The character breakdown walked viewers through the boys' normals, special moves, super, and what makes each one unique from the other.

Towards the end of the broadcast, a handful of unique gear loadouts was showcased. Each one altered the character's looks (naturally), but also added one to two special gear moves for each of the turtles.

During Michelangelo's segment, viewers witnessed what is easily my new favorite gear move in Injustice 2. The party dude has the ability to pull out a full-sized pizza, in battle, and has three different options once it's in play.

The first follow up allows him to simply drop the pizza and dash forward, giving him "pizza cancels," as it was described on the stream. He can also throw the pizza at opponents, box and all, acting as a decent projectile.

Of course, the best thing to do with the pizza is eat it. By meter burning the move, Michelangelo will actually remove a slice of pizza from the box, gobble it up, and this will regenerate a stock of life.

What makes this gear move even more awesome is the fact that the slices of pizza are actually removed from the box when Mikey eats one, leaving behind a greasy mark on the cardboard.

Another time we see pizza come into play is during the Turtles' win animation. Whichever turtle is on point will crack open a box, remove a slice, then throw the whole pie into the camera.

Fun fact: That win screen pizza was a real-life pizza that was put through motion capture. NetherRealm's Community Specialist Tyler Lansdown provides this detail during the stream, and notes that he actually had a slice of it.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released on February 13th for Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition, Injustice 2 Ultimate Pack or Fighter Pack #3 owners. They will become available for standalone purchase beginning February 20th on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, and Microsoft Store for $9.99.
