Dear whiny Ken players, your character isn't dead, he's actually better... The Mocha Latte breaks down Season 4 changes for Mr. Masters
'The nerfs are pretty much insignificant'
Without dropping any names, Street Fighter 5 Ken players have become known the social media world over as a bit on the whiny side when it comes to their character.
This most recent balance patch was no exception as we heard a good deal about his nerfs and very little about his buffs, but it very well may be that Ken is actually an overall stronger fighter here in Season 4.
Enter The Mocha Latte, an Arizona-based online warrior who plays a more patient neutral game than literally anyone else I've ever played in any fighting game. Mocha has produced a reasonably quick video that showcases the finer details of both the buffs and nerfs, and more importantly highlights the implications of the former.
For instance, the buff to Ken's V-Trigger 2 allows him a follow up Shoryuken afterwards. This adds fairly little damage, sure, but it allows for Ken to follow up with okizeme pressure after landing his Shinryuken (which is not meant to be an anti-air, but rather a footsie tool).
The addition to Ken's standing heavy kick hurtbox is probably his most significant nerf, but seems to make sense for a Crush Counter move. A second nerf saw the fiery shoto's overhead made more punishable on block, but Mocha explains in detail why this isn't at all the end of the world.
Even if you don't play Ken the video below is a great example of focusing on further implications of changes as opposed to surface level reactions. Let us know if you agree with Mr. Latte in the comments.
