Tekken Cross Street Fighter is a central reason Akuma is in Tekken 7; TxSF is currently 30% complete according to Harada

Someday maybe...

Though it was announced alongside Street Fighter X Tekken back on July 24, 2010 at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, Tekken X Street Fighter has not yet seen the light of day.

Producer Katsuhiro Harada has surely had his hands full with other projects since that time, the very popular Tekken 7 most likely at the top of that list. Our most recent update from Harada came from an interview back in May of this year where he clarified that the title was "still on hold part-way through development."

The notable gaming producer addressed the matter yet again during a live stream at a Kuro Kuro party and gave the fighting game community an idea of just how far along in development TxSF currently is.

"We got pretty far with it, and it was/is around 30% complete," he noted. He went on to also say that, "Akuma in Tekken 7 came about through the experience and knowledge we gained while working on Tekken X Street Fighter," which makes total sense since the demonic Street Fighter character's T7 inclusion is the closest taste we have to TxSF at this point.

Whether or not the anticipated crossover title will ever grow beyond that 30% mark remains to be seen, but we're holding out hope that we'll one day see the Tekken and Street Fighter universes collide again, this time propelled by the Tekken game engine.
