CYG|Daigo Umehara will likely go down as the most storied fighting game player of all-time due to his success across multiple decades of Street Fighter titles earning him recognition around the world and even outside of the fighting game community.

Ryu was Daigo's go-to character for the first year of Street Fighter 5's run, but he quickly dropped him for Guile following his rough Season 2 changes. He has stuck with Guile for the past two competitive seasons, but that may be changing soon.

Daigo had quickly set his eyes upon Kage as a former Evil Ryu main from the latter years of Street Fighter 4, but he appears to be having much more fun with Season 4 Ryu right now.

In one of his recent streams clipped by resident FGC highlight finder HiFight, Umehara faced off against a Guile player online where he expressed joy about Ryu having pressure options after hitting EX-Tatsumaki and sung praises for SF5's producer Yoshinori Ono.

The Beast himself exclaims in a mixture of English and Japanese that he "will Shoryuken higher than everyone else" and says that "Ono-san is God" after thanking him multiple times in jubilation.

Guile may now be mid-tier due to his new nerfs plus Kage's neutral isn't very appealing according to Daigo via HiFight, so he's currently planning on using Ryu more for now which is sure to please many of his fans. You can check out the full clip of Daigo's exclamations of joy in the clip below.
