First glimpse at Kage's gameplay in Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition

Update: Fuzzy on Twitter has posted a clip of himself running into Kage in Survival Mode. This gives us our first glimpse at Kage's gameplay. He's basically Evil Ryu — armed with an ax kick that extends combos, a weird looking Hurricane Kick, and a Red Fireball with extra startup.

Earlier: A new character has appeared on Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition's character select screen. Clearly this is a brand new fighter that has never appeared in the Street Fighter series.

There is an update that is apparently available. You can see a darkened image of a new character in the training mode's character select screen. Upon hovering over him, it is revealed that he is a newcomer known as Kage.

This particular fighter comes off as looking very demonic. He has red and black eyes, fangs, and even horns. Outside of these features, one could easily mistake him for Ryu.

It's being speculated that he has something to do with "Evil Ryu" based on his appearance. What looks like Ryu's head band appears to sit on Kage's neck. He's shirtless which shows that he has burns or wounds on his upper body.

Street Fighter 5's servers are currently down to implement something. It's very likely that this was the intended announcement that would conclude Capcom Cup 2018.

If so, then this is Season 4's first DLC character. Rumors are circulating that Kage is capable of flight.

Not much is known about this mysterious fighter outside of this information as we haven't seen his trailer yet.

Notably, there appears to be some balance adjustments in place. Menat's V-Trigger 1 went from being a 2 bar V-Trigger to a 3 bar V-Trigger. Abigail's V-Trigger 1 has also had its meter requirement increased from two to three. A list of balance changes is currently being compiled.

Volume 4 trials have also appeared. There's a total of two new trials for the other 34 characters.

Interestingly enough, "kage" in Japanese translates to "shadow." This sheds some light on the hint that dropped on Friday.

Notice how the Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition logo is casting a shadow? This seems to be Kage's theme.

Kage might be to Ryu what Oni is to Akuma. Oni is Japanese for demon.
