Samurai Shodown was shown off earlier this year as SNK's first mainline return to the franchise in a decade, and now we know a little more about what to expect when the game releases next year.

The 2D fighting game will reportedly be aiming for an 18+ or Mature rating due to the level of blood and violence that is planned to be in the title including an "amputation effect" to finish off opponents by removing some of their limbs.

This information allegedly came from a closed door presentation in South Korea where SNK also revealed The King of Fighters 15 is in development according to Game Focus and translated by Gatoray.

Charlotte, the French noble who was first introduced in the original Samurai Shodown title, was also reportedly confirmed and / or shown off during the presentation by the developers though they have yet to announce any details publicly.

The King of Fighters 15, which was only shown as a title said to release in 2020 at the press conference, will use the Unreal Engine unlike King of Fighters 14 and other recent SNK fighters have been built on.

This new Samurai Shodown title is scheduled to release during the second quarter of 2019 on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC. You can check out Gatoray's Tweet about the information at the presentation below
