Good news for ESAM

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has only been in the hands of the general public for just over a day now, but many professional players have been playing the game since as early as E3 thanks to pre-release events around the world.

Tempo|ZeRo was considered the best Super Smash Bros. for Wii U player in the world in part thanks to his 56-game win streak that started when the game released, and he's returned from retirement to compete for Smash Ultimate.

In his Twitch stream last night, ZeRo created his day one tier list rankings for Smash Ultimate for all 74 characters currently in the game — except he's not sure where to place Robin or Duck Hunt — with some big differences compared to TSM|Leffen's list.

Currently, the top Smash 4 player believes that Pikachu is the best character in the game thanks to the Pokémon's great recovery, great speed, strong attack options and the fact that they're short. Meanwhile, Olimar sits at number two for his ability to camp and rack up damage quickly — plus he thinks the space captain might prove to be very annoying to fight against.

Despite having some of the worst perceived recovery options in the game, ZeRo thinks that Chrom is actually the best sword character in Smash Ultimate due to having more combo options than Roy and potentially possessing a touch of death combo that works against a large portion of the cast.

On the opposite side of the tiers, fighters like Kirby, Ridley and Little Mac are seen as among the weakest in the title's early competitive life. You can check out ZeRo's full tier list below along with his breakdown and analysis.
