Soul Calibur 6 appears to have gone gold according to game producer

'Our souls are burned into the disc' — Motohiro Okubo ‏

Development for every game must eventually come to an end if it is ever to be released to the public. Developers often refer to this phrase as "gone gold." This comes after the polish phase or final touch ups for the software.

It's during this process where software is burned to a disc and is prepped for duplication and distribution. As a result of this, a game typically goes gold a few weeks to a month before the release date as to make sure there are enough physical copies for retail.

Evidently, the producer of Soul Calibur 6 — Motohiro Okubo ‏— appears to be referring to this process by a unique phrase. He went on to Twitter to state that "[their] souls are burned into the disc."

This isn't to say that Bandai Namco are not still working on Soul Calibur 6. A season pass will be purchasable that makes future DLC readily available.

While nothing has been confirmed right now, many games in this day and age tend to require a day one patch. The ability to release patches makes it so that developers are able to keep working on a game even after it has gone gold.

Soul Calibur 6 will be releasing on October 19th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC worldwide.
