Dragon Ball FighterZ and Street Fighter make their way into Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 via mods no one knew they wanted

Admit it, you'd definitely play them

Did this need to be a thing? No. Are we glad that it is? I'm... not sure, but we're here now.

YouTube channel NintendoDuo has uploaded footage of a few Mario Kart mods from the franchise's two earliest titles (we're not counting that cancelled Virtua Boy Mario Kart) with the cast replaced by Dragon Ball Z and Street Fighter characters.

Though this may come off as a bit of a gimmick at first glance, after watching some of the game play, we quickly developed a strange appreciation for these out of left field mods.

The attention to detail is quite impressive as everything from items to sound bites have been altered to reflect the respective guest universes that are being melded into Mario Kart's.

Also, Zangief as Donkey Kong Jr. from the original racing classic is an absolutely perfect fit.

Give these videos a chance and then let us know what you thought. You don't have to love em, you just have to watch em. Or don't. Either way.
