Harada reveals how Noctis joining the ranks of Tekken 7 came about in new interview with Final Fantasy 15 director Hajime Tabata

Tekken 7 got into the habit of surprising players with the inclusion of guest characters into the game starting with Akuma's reveal in Fated Retribution and followed up last year with the announcement that King of Fighter's villain Geese Howard would also be joining the game.

Both of those guest characters were from within the fighting game genre, and so speculation was wild as to who the next character could be. Could it be a character from Dead or Alive, or someone from Virtua Fighter or Mortal Kombat? The answer surprised everyone.

Bandai Namco announced Noctis Lucis Calem would be making the jump from Final Fantasy 15 to the world of the King of the Iron Fist Tournament at the end of last year leaving some excited and others scratching their head.

Bandai Namco uploaded a new video to their YouTube channel shedding some light on how the Insomnian Prince came to join the ranks of Heihachi and Jin with Katsuhiro Harada sitting down with Final Fantasy director Hajime Tabata to discuss how the deal came about.

Harada reveals that he initially went to Tabata to ask him about his team's approach to creating Final Fantasy 15, and their relationship continued to grow from there to where they currently stand now.

He also states in the video that taking Noctis and Placing him into a fighting game would surprise everyone and felt that his team would be the only ones to effectively pull something like that off (and that gaining the spotlight is also nice). You can check out the full video after the jump.
