During the SoCal Regionals 2017 tournament, it was revealed how the Space Stone will work in the Battle for the Stones competition.

"The Space Stone allows the stone bearer to swap their position in the bracket, and face a different opponent!"

"The position must be in an equal place in the tournament," reads the official listing for the Space Stone.

The other stones will be up for grabs at South East Asia Major (Time), Canada Cup (Mind), EU Finals (Soul), Latin America Finals (Reality) and Red Bull Proving Grounds (Power).

The seven previous EVO Marvel vs. Capcom winners have been invited to participate already in Battle for the Stones, and they are: Jay "Viscant" Snyder, Ryan "SPY|Filipino Champ" Ramirez, Job "Flocker" Figueroa, FOX|Justin Wong, Nick "KaneBlueRiver" Gonzalez, Chris "EG|NYChrisG" Gonzalez, and Ryan "SPY|RyanLV" Romero.

Nine other players will qualify to fill the 16 spots, with the winner receiving a one-of-a-kind trophy and over $30,000 USD in prize money.
