Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite special Collector's Edition Infinity Stones are very much not what fans expected

What you see is not always what you get

Fans that purchased Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite's $200 Collector's Edition bundle not only received the latest in the MvC franchise, but also a few collector's items to feature proudly atop mantles or in display cases.

Along with the game itself, purchasers of this special bundle got four 1/10 scale statues for Iron Man, Mega Man X, Chun-Li and Captain Marvel. Promotional images showcased the statues alongside one other addition: a decorative case housing six Infinity Stone replicas.

As taken from the GameStop pre-order page, "Marvel fans will also behold dynamic replicas of the infamous Infinity Stones, which control the primal forces of life, the universe, and everything in it!"

That bit about "dynamic replicas" has those who pre-ordered scratching their heads a bit, as what they got was really not what was expected.

Based on the promotional image, (seen in the story banner) customers were expecting the Infinity Stones to be six vibrant, precious jewels that imitated what we've seen in the Marvel films that feature said Stones.

What they got were some pastel-colored, egg shaped rocks that light up. Here are images we took once we unboxed our CE bundle:

The Infinity Stones are actually half ovals set directly in the case, cannot be removed and are all simultaneously lit by a single back light within.

Many that have purchased the $200 bundle have taken to social media to express their distaste. While we're certainly much more interested in the actual game content, it is somewhat surprising to open the above when we were expecting something closer to the image below.
