Zero still has lightning loops in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, and now he gets them midscreen

Less damage, more reset potential

Back in the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 series, Zero was among one of the best characters in the game. A fairly large contributing factor to his status was his ability to perform what has come to be known as "lightning loops" -- a high-damage sequence that involved Zero using his shadow clone super to land his lightning strike attack repeatedly which often led to KO.

In Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, it looks as though Zero has retained this electrifying capability. Demonstrated by SPY|Filipino Champ on the FGTVLive stream, we see that these loops are still very much intact.

Once shadow clone is in play, Zero can catch an opponent in the lightning loop just like he would have back in MvC3. While these loops were mainly performed in the corner back then, now Zero has the full capability of landing them midscreen.

As we see in the clip below (courtesy of HiFight), Zero can even loop the opponent when they're standing.

The damage on Zero's sequence doesn't seem to be as intense as it once was, however, there is a scary amount of reset potential here. If you're caught slipping, you might end up knocked out.

When Zero captured you in the lightning loop back in Marvel 3, your only chance of escape was the opponent dropping the combo. Fortunately, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite has the counter switch mechanic, which will allow players the opportunity to break the combo and free themselves.
