There was a bit of a tricky situation that occurred over the weekend during Canada Cup. Specifically, the Battle for the Stones Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite tournament.

After losing his pools match, Quackbot, continued to compete in another pools bracket under Holy Order-Troll's tag. It was reported that Holy Order-Troll had a stick malfunction and asked Quackbot to use her registration as to not let it go to waste.

Many players, such as TSM|Leffen, were not too happy regarding the situation. Quackbot (PCMarvelGod) has already given his account on the situation.

Once this was discovered, it was determined that part of the bracket had to be replayed. Originally, Eliver "KillerKai" Ling was supposed to play Justin Wong in the top 8 as he had qualified from his pools bracket.

According to Eliver, he was told that he wouldn't have to replay any matches. This allowed him to focus on mentally preparing for his match against Justin.

Eventually, it was determined that he would have to replay some of the pools matches anyways.

"The tournament organizers and Capcom rep tell me that it wouldn’t be fair to the people Quackbot beat and that they didn’t want to make it look like they were showing me preferential treatment," said Eliver over TwitLonger. "In the end, I was given an ultimatum to either replay the bracket or walk out. Left with no choice I end up replaying my matches."

Before, Eliver had won four straight matches, including his matches against Quackbot (under the different alias) and Joe P. In the runback against Joe, he ended up losing thus changing the outcome of the bracket.

Eliver mentions that he felt as the "staff were faced with a tough situation and [he thought] they tried their best to come up with a good resolution, but [he] was disappointed in how they handled it." While he wishes the Canada Cup staff the best, he mentions that he "won’t be returning to any Canada Cup events."
