'I’d actually won the highest, most prestigious tournament in the world, and the prize money was only $5,700' - Xian on winning EVO 2013

This caused Xian to question if there was any future in e-sports

RZR|Xian is often regarded as one of the best Street Fighter players in the world today. He certainly has a very prestigious résumé that backs this idea up.

At a younger age, he would go to an arcade with only $2. He had to learn how to make it last for hours.

Back in 2013, he won EVO's Street Fighter 4 tournament where there were over 1,600 participating players. Despite this, Xian had only won $5,700 for his efforts.

As you might expect, this could get someone to think about whether or not a career in e-sports was worth it.

Luckily it seems that times have changed since then as he has earned $50,000 in prize money so far this year. Of course, he's also aiming for the Capcom Cup Finals this year, as many competitors are.

You'll want to check out the full article at Channel Asia News where more details about Xian's life and competitive career are revealed. After the jump, you can see the video that talks about some of this.
