In January of next year, the masses will be able to get their hands on Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition. This new installment in the series will bring more game modes, a second V-Trigger for each character and more.

Amidst the excitement from all of the details about the game, it seems that some fans missed the specifics of how we'll be able to acquire the AE upgrade.

For those who were wondering, allow me to put your mind at ease: you won't have to pay again if you already own Street Fighter 5. That's right, Arcade Edition will become available on January 16th as a free update.

The update consists of the new game modes and mechanics, such as the long-awaited Arcade Mode, a gallery that allows players to unlock artwork, Extra Battle, and more. On release, players who already own Street Fighter 5 will be able to gain access to all of this, free of charge.

If you haven't purchased the game yet, you can opt to pick up the full version for $39.99 USD on PlayStation 4 -- as a physical and digital release -- or digitally on Windows PC.

This purchase option gives you the full Street Fighter 5 game, all of the new modes and mechanics that Arcade Edition brings, as well as all 12 of the DLC characters from Season 1 and Season 2.
