Capcom Cup 2017 is drawing closer by the day, and a lot of top level players are ready to test their skills against eachother at the grand event.

In an effort to build hype for this, we've decided to reach out to the qualified Capcom Cup players, and will be bringing you interviews with as many as possible of the players set to participate in the event.

Next up is one of Street Fighter 4's legends, and a Street Fighter 5 star as well, RB|Bonchan. In this interview he talks about a potential Street Fighter 5 Sagat, fighting games' rise as eSports, Nash's problems and more.

Here's a snippet to get you started.

MajinTenshinhan: You produced very good results with Nash even after the nerfs he received in Season 2, but now you've moved over more to Karin. Is Nash just too bad now? What do you think would be good for Capcom to buff with Nash for next year?

RB|Bonchan: Nash's character power is far from enough.

He has some matchups that are fatal and he can't even fight in, and since he has low comeback potential he can't power through it, either.

I think to buff him, it would be pretty nice if he had more corner control and he could capitalize well off air-to-air.

Right now, he's just a worse Guile, and a lot worse, at that.

Continue below for the full interview.

MajinTenshinhan: The Focus and Ultra Combo system in Street Fighter 4 is quite different from the V-System in Street Fighter 5. Which system do you prefer? Please tell us what you think are the good and bad points of that system.

RB|Bonchan: I've been saying this ever since Street Fighter 5 was released, but I think the Street Fighter 5 system's heavy emphasis on offense is more fun.

That said, it's unfortunate that there are less elements to delve deep into.

MajinTenshinhan: Since fighting games became popular as eSports, big-name companies such as your own sponsor, Red Bull, have joined in, prize money has increased and fighting games are now big enough that pro players can make a living off of them.

Only 10 years ago, this was practically unthinkable. How do you feel about this development in the fighting game world?

RB|Bonchan: I never felt like I joined anything that was small and helped build it, but rather that when I started playing it was already popular, and now it's become an industry that's valued across the whole world.

Seeing the growth of the industry, I feel like fighting games had that kind of power all along.

MajinTenshinhan: You were a legendary presence with Sagat in the Street Fighter 4 era. Lately, we've gotten rumors about Sagat coming to Street Fighter 5.

Street Fighter 5 is quite a different game from Street Fighter 4, so if Sagat comes, how would you like him to be? Or are you even interested in Sagat for Street Fighter 5 to begin with?

RB|Bonchan: I've been hearing rumors about Sagat since way back in Season 1, and then got sad when he didn't show up.

I've decided to not even consider it until there's an official announcement, and just wait patiently.

As for Sagat in Street Fighter 5, I'd like to at least have his uppercut remain a strong move...

MajinTenshinhan: Next January, Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition is coming out. What are you hoping to see in this new version?

RB|Bonchan: Well, they've said that they're adding new V-Triggers to everyone, but I'll be happy if they can balance it so that you can play in different styles that weren't possible before.

As for characters, they're always going to tweak them one way or another and shifting the tierrs, but I hope that they can make the breadth of viable characters wider.

I also strongly hope that they'll improve the game's online.

MajinTenshinhan: What do you think about your chances at Capcom Cup 2017?

RB|Bonchan: To be honest, I'm not very confident at the moment.

I keep thinking of the worst-case scenarios, so I'm just going to take it one step at a time and work from there.

Huge thanks to RB|Bonchan for participating in our interview series and we wish you the best of luck at Capcom Cup 2017. Please look forward to more interviews in the coming days.
