Capcom Cup 2017 is drawing closer by the day, and a lot of top level players are ready to test their skills against eachother at the grand event.

In an effort to build hype for this, we've decided to reach out to the qualified Capcom Cup players, and will be bringing you interviews with as many as possible of the players set to participate in the event.

Next up is one of the players who put Rashid on the map, Ponos|Moke. In this interview, he talks about his Persona fighting game history, what Rashid's new V-Trigger should be, his chances at Capcom Cup 2017 and more.

Here's a snippet to get you started.

MajinTenshinhan: How long have you been playing fighting games?

Ponos|Moke: I was influenced by my older brother and started playing fighting games at age 6.

Continue below for the full interview.

MajinTenshinhan: You've produced very good results this year in Street Fighter 5, but you were also an extremely strong Akihiko player in Persona 4: Arena Ultimax.

Why did you start playing Street Fighter 5? And have you played any fighting games besides Street Fighter 5 and Persona at a high level?

Ponos|Moke: I always watched the hype that the Street Fighter 4 series brought. Players from all kinds of countries battling eachother, and a lot of pro players were "born" during this era.

While seeing all this, I kept playing my own game Persona 4: Arena Ultimax at my own pace, and before I knew it my winning percentage had become really high, and before I knew it I was good enough to participate in the national tournament for the game.

Because of this, my confidence in fighting games themselves grew, and I with my confidence, my will to move to the game that was the most popular and had the highest level of players available in it grew stronger as well.

Right around then, Street Fighter 5 was announced, and it confirmed for me that this is where I'm meant to shine.

Up until then, I'd played many different games, but only at a very shallow level.

MajinTenshinhan:How good do you think Rashid is compared to the other characters in Street Fighter 5 right now?

Ponos|Moke: I think that Akuma, Ibuki and Rashid are the top characters in this game.

Of those characters, Akuma and Ibuki are the ones who have power to them. Rashid's power might be lower, but to make up for it he has very strong movement and neutral, I think.

MajinTenshinhan: It was announced that every character will be able to select a second V-Trigger in the upcoming Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition.

I have the impression that Rashid's current V-Trigger is heavily tied into his playing style, so what do you think would fit for a new V-Trigger for him?

Ponos|Moke: I think his current V-Trigger is very balanced for him. It can cover him in a lot of different situations.

To contrast that, if they're adding a new V-Trigger for him, I'd like it to be a power-up state like the ones Akuma or Ken have.

MajinTenshinhan: Next January, Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition is coming out. What are you hoping to see in this new version?

Ponos|Moke: They're going to be adding new V-Triggers and system options, so I'm hoping that they'll balance so that there's more variation in the neutral game.

I'm hoping to see new things that give everyone entirely new ways to move around, and really express their individuality.

MajinTenshinhan: What do you think about your chances at Capcom Cup 2017?

Ponos|Moke: Please look forward to seeing my matches.

Huge thanks to Ponos|Moke for participating in our interview series and we wish you the best of luck at Capcom Cup 2017. Please look forward to more interviews in the coming days.
